Daughters of the King

Daughters of the King is an international order made up of women between the ages of seven and one hundred and seven who desire a closer walk with the Lord. We are lay and ordained Christian women, who are strengthened through the discipline of a Rule of Life and supported through the companionship of our sisters. In our Rule of Life, prayer always comes first.  We pray daily for the unity of Christ’s church, for the spread of Christ’s Kingdom, especially among women and girls, for God’s blessing upon the members of the Order, and for the spiritual growth of the parish and for the clergy of the parish to which the chapter owes allegiance.  If you have any questions, please contact Sue Corbin, group leader.

Charitable Giving

St. Michael’s has a dedicated and enthusiastic group that builds fellowship through fund raising efforts.  We are now in the beginning phase of exploring the possibility of a fundraiser in Mid-October.  If you are interested in helping out, please let Rev. Mary know.   Money raised is given to organizations that our members are connected with, which are doing the work of Christ in the World.

Hospitality

We offered ways for our members to meet socially and were very good at it.  And then COVID hit and it has been hard to know when the time to meet in larger groups is right.  Currently we are hosting Coffee Hour immediately following the 10am service.  It is a space to welcome  visitors, answer questions, and be together as a community.

We are in the planning stages of an ingathering bar-b-q in late September or early October.  We are also hoping to have a fundraiser in mid to late October.  If  entertaining is your jam and you would like to help out, please let the office know and you can get in on the planning.

Men's Breakfast

The Men’s Breakfast group is a group of men that meet for breakfast at 8:00 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month at Flap Jacks Diner, 2721 El Camino Ave., Sacramento, Ca. 95821.

The group is not restricted to members of St. Michael’s and has no agenda or program.  The men’s group has historically helped organize, prepare and serve at previous Shrove Tuesday pancake suppers and the Welcome Back Sunday picnic.  Please contact the office with any questions.

Sacred Circle

Sacred Circle is a group of members who gather to have quiet time together to listen, pray, and reflect on an offered reading or poem.  Kate Muris and Marilyn McEntyre invite you to meet on the last Wednesday of each month from 6 to 7pm on zoom. For more information and to join us, please contact Kate Muris at katherinemuris@gmail.com. All are welcome.

Bible Study Group

Thursdays | 10am-11:30am | Friendship Center

We would be delighted to have you join us for our bible study.  We study the readings for the following Sunday.  This group meets in-person and on zoom.  For more information, please email the office.

St. Michael's Step Group

This is a new group for St. Michael’s.  We will be exploring the 12-steps and how they can be used to deepen our relationship with God.  We will meet by zoom on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, 7-8pm.  Even though we will be using the 12 Steps of AA, this is not an AA group.

Care Ministries

St. Michael’s strives to be a healthy and welcoming community.  We know that at times we all need someone who can listen with empathy and compassion.  Our Community of Hope team is trained in listening skills and pastoral care.  We also have  Spiritual Directors who are trained and willing to walk with you on your spiritual journey.  And we have members who are willing to be your pastoral friend, someone to check in with you on a regular basis determined by the two of you.  Explore a few of these ministries below.

Pastoral Care

At St. Michael’s we offer pastoral care to one another with open hearts, healthy emotional attitudes, good boundaries, and a sense of God’s presence in our work.

Prayer

Prayer is a powerful way to change the world. We believe that change occurs most profoundly in the person who is praying. Prayer helps us grow in compassion, mercy, and love.
