Daughters of the King

Daughters of the King is an international order made up of women between the ages of seven and one hundred and seven who desire a closer walk with the Lord. We are lay and ordained Christian women, who are strengthened through the discipline of a Rule of Life and supported through the companionship of our sisters. In our Rule of Life, prayer always comes first. We pray daily for the unity of Christ’s church, for the spread of Christ’s Kingdom, especially among women and girls, for God’s blessing upon the members of the Order, and for the spiritual growth of the parish and for the clergy of the parish to which the chapter owes allegiance. If you have any questions, please contact the office.

Charitable Giving

St. Michael’s has a dedicated and enthusiastic group that builds fellowship through fundraising efforts. In concert with our Mercy & Social Justice Ministry, money raised is given to organizations that our members are connected with, which are doing the work of Christ in the World.

Hospitality

Volunteering at these events is a wonderful way for all parishioners, especially newer ones, to be of service, have some fun, and connect with others. Help is needed in many ways. They include baking, setup and clean up, cooking, publicity, co-chairing, and reservations, just to name a few. So whatever your time or talent, there’s a spot for you!

Please consider filling out the volunteer form to let us know what your interest is in becoming a part of St. Michael’s Hospitality. There is no obligation to participate in any event when you fill out this form. Want more details? Indicate you’d like a phone call and someone will be happy to be in touch.

Opportunities to Volunteer in Hospitality

Men's Breakfast

The Men’s Breakfast group is a group of men that meet for breakfast at 8:00 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month at Flap Jacks Diner, 2721 El Camino Ave., Sacramento, CA, 95821.

The group is not restricted to members of St. Michael’s and has no agenda or program. The men’s group has historically helped organize, prepare and serve at previous Shrove Tuesday pancake suppers and the Welcome Back Sunday picnic. Please contact the office with any questions.

Sacred Circle

Sacred Circle is a group of members who gather to have quiet time together to listen, pray, and reflect on an offered reading or poem. Kate Muris and Marilyn McEntyre invite you to meet on the last Wednesday of each month from 6 to 7pm on zoom. For more information and to join us, please contact Kate Muris. All are welcome.

Bible Study

Thursdays | 10am-11:30am | Friendship Center & Zoom

We meet at 10am on Thursdays in the Friendship Room and by Zoom. We read all 4 Scriptures that will be read on the following Sunday. This allows us to study the background of each Scripture and what it meant for the original hearers. We discover what it means to us. Discussion format is used where everyone can express their ideas. Come join us. For more information, please email the office.

St. Michael's Reads the Gospels

Tuesdays | 6:30pm – 8pm | Zoom

Led by Dawn & Tyson Wright. Come along as we read the gospels (and the Epistle of James) together. A reading plan is available in the ushers desk in the back of the sanctuary or in the office. This can be done on your own OR you can join our gospel discussion group on Tuesday evenings.

St. Michael's Healing Circle

Experience God’s Peace, Restoration, and Wholeness. We meet on the second Saturday of the month at 11am in the Friendship Center. Healing Circles are a sacred space for prayer, reflection and the healing love of Christ. If you are interested and would like more information please contact Kate Muris or Father Mike Ferrito.

Centering Prayer

Mondays in Friendship Center at 8:30am
Thursdays on Zoom (Link) at 7pm

St. Michael’s is offering the ancient spiritual practice known as Centering Prayer that seeks to quiet the mind and help us to rest in silence. We will offer Centering Prayer every Monday here at St. Michael’s in the Friendship room from 9-10am and on Thursdays via zoom from 7-8pm. If you are seeking a deeper relationship with God please join us for this powerful contemplative practice. For more information contact Kate Muris, Chuck Schaller or Father Mike.

Care Ministries

St. Michael’s strives to be a healthy and welcoming community. We know that at times we all need someone who can listen with empathy and compassion. Our Community of Hope team is trained in listening skills and pastoral care. We also have Spiritual Directors who are trained and willing to walk with you on your spiritual journey. And we have members who are willing to be your pastoral friend, someone to check in with you on a regular basis determined by the two of you. Explore a few of these ministries below.

Pastoral Care

At St. Michael’s we offer pastoral care to one another with open hearts, healthy emotional attitudes, good boundaries, and a sense of God’s presence in our work.

Prayer

Prayer is a powerful way to change the world. We believe that change occurs most profoundly in the person who is praying. Prayer helps us grow in compassion, mercy, and love.
