Transition Report

The process for calling a new Rector has four stages:

  • Stage One was sending Rev Mary off in style which was accomplished with great success. Thank you all who participated and donated.
  • Stage Two is to find an Interim Rector who can help with the day to day administration and become a part of the spiritual leadership team as we progress on our journey in calling a new rector. We posted the job description with the Diocese and are evaluating a candidate.
  • Stage Three is developing a Parish Profile. We have a lot of information about who we are and what we do. What we need to do is agree as a parish, who do we need as a person to lead us forward. This process of discernment should be done by November 2024.
  • Stage Four is the Search process. Recruiting candidates, screening applications forwarded by the Bishop’s Office, interviewing, and selecting an applicant. Once the person is selected, the Bishop approves, and we negotiate a contract and set a start date.

You Listened! And Talked!

Thank you everyone who participated in the Parish Listening Events to share your ideas and inspirations for St. Michael’s in years to come as we call our new rector. The results are extremely important as we prepare the Parish Profile, a document that describes our parish as it is, and will be posted nationally to assist candidates to be our next rector in learning about us as they discern their call to this parish.

Sixty-two of us participated by writing down ideas on large sticky notes (or sending or telling them to Mary Kessler, scribe for the Zoom session). If you would like to read what others wrote and said, we have posted an unedited transcription of the sticky notes and Mary Kessler’s notes, from all three sessions. Fair warning – it is about 20 pages.

Your participation is much appreciated.

The CAT’s Meow!

Our CAT survey shows that St. Michael’s is The CAT’s Meow!—in that we score as a high energy/high satisfaction church ranking above average on all of the key metrics, compared with similar churches, in the Holy Cow! Congregational Assessment Tool (CAT) survey. For those of you who missed Greg Dewey’s excellent presentation of the Holy Cow! CAT survey results, the PowerPoint slides are on St. Michael’s web site below.

If you would like to dive deeper into the results, you can find the full report, called the Holy Cow! Vital Signs Report below.
